MCHC began its community garden, called Sakina Community Garden in the Spring of 2015. MCHC added six container beds for the initial use for the Senior Center based at MCHC. The community garden has grown to a total of nine container beds and a fruit tree orchard. The objective shifted focus by supplying fresh produce for food shelters, utilizing fresh produce for community members to learn healthy ways to cook and lastly for the Senior Center. Currently, our community gardens are overseen by volunteer master gardeners, determining logistical planning on soil tilling, planting, harvesting and supply chain.
